About Catherine

Cath headshotHello, I’m Catherine Franks, myofascial release therapist.  I’m here to help you feel better.

A member of the National Association of Massage and Manipulative Therapists (NAMMT), I trained with the Midlands School of Massage and Manipulative Therapy and more recently with MFR UK after leaving the world of charity marketing and project management in 2008.

I hold a Diploma in Remedial Massage and an Advanced Diploma in Manipulative Therapy. My early training included an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology as well as practical skills in massage and manipulation based on osteopathic techniques.

Since 2014 I have developed my skills in myofascial release, an exciting and rapidly growing field in physical therapy.  Practical skills are backed up by sound scientific research to release restrictions in myo- (muscular) fascia (connective tissue) caused by physical and emotional issues.  Working safely and gently, yet deep into the fascial network can be especially effective in the treatment of chronic conditions such as ME, fibromyalgia and long-term pain conditions.  Please read here for more information as this is the work I now use with all clients.

I spend a lot of a treatment session listening – not only to what you say, but to what my hands tell me. Body-reading, by sight and touch, is an important tool in making sure you get the best treatment.

To ensure I always provide the best treatment possible I undertake regular Continuing Professional Development, exploring new practical techniques and keeping up-to-date on theoretical knowledge. This has included intensive courses in areas such as muscle energy techniques, trigger point therapy and the physiology of pain.

I find my work extremely rewarding and never cease to be amazed at the difference a skilled treatment can make to my clients, many of whom have suffered long-term problems with pain and restricted movement. See what some of them have to say by clicking here
